Rain or Shine, we will be at the Garden--- or maybe back at the homestead. October 14 Weather calls for rain.
Although we know that we will not get a sunny day, we will be at the Pasture at 450 N. Waller as we are able with the weather. From 11 a.m. till 2 p.m., the goats will take a trip to the pasture. Hope to see you
October has begun with great weather for goats. The girls are relaxing and enjoying the shades of autumn. Come meet them from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. on October 14. We hope to see you at the Garden and the Pasture. Both the Root Riot Garden and the Pasture are located at 450 N. Waller, which is one block north of Lake Street and three blocks east of Austin Boulevard. Blues music is provided.
In addition to GlennArt Products like chevre and honey, Happy Apple Pie Shop will also be selling mini pies. They are also providing us with a taste of their specialty cookies with our lemonade.
Here is our press release found on this website:
See you there!
One of our greatest challenges was to create a clean space for milk processing. Thanks to Frontera Foundation, we had the funds to do so. Extrutech in Wisconsin produces panels that form sanitary rooms for dairy operations. After months of planning and input from many people, the room took shape. Special acknowledgment to to Amber Pike and her knowledge of other goat farm operations.
Our greatest asset was Nairobi Anderson, electrician and contractor. He slowly constructed our milk processing room allowing us to continue operations while he transformed the space into a room. 'Robi' managed all this over the months of August to September. We reorganized the room adding two new sinks, a hand wash and diary sink. The latter was anchored at a workable height to clean the milking machine. The final product is shown below, a sanitary space for milk production in the city.
